Our story

We decided to set up 'EELS'  in order to create the kind of language school that we would want to go to ourselves.

EELS is a small, caring school - the kind of place where you get collected personally from the airport and where you can call on a member of staff, who knows you, for help or advice day or night.

All our staff are highly experienced and all have worked in some of the largest and most prestigious schools in England and abroad, often in senior positions.  All have postgraduate degrees in education from Cambridge University. You will not find more expert teachers anywhere.

However, we wanted to create something even more special. We wanted to create the perfect learning environment and we decided to do this we needed to keep things small, hence our slogan 'because small is beautiful.'

Ely has been described as the most perfect medieval city in Britain. It is over two thousand years old and originally grew up around the catching of eels, hence the name of both the town and of our school.
